Carolyn Florence Green Odom

Carolyn Florence Green Odom, a cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Carolyn was raised in the small community of Powderly, Alabama, alongside her loving family. Carolyn's life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and community. A proud graduate of Jones Valley High School, she was known for her academic excellence and artistic achievement. Her career in the banking industry at Alabama Telco Credit Union, later Avadian, was marked by dedication and integrity. In 1963, Carolyn married Lem "Buddy" Millard Odom, sharing 49 years of love and partnership. Their marriage was a beautiful journey of shared devotion, faith, and family. Together, they found joy in simple pleasures and travel, creating cherished memories from Gulf Shores to distant lands. Carolyn was a long-standing member of Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama. Her faith was her guiding light, providing strength and solace throughout her life. Even when unable to attend church services, she found joy in watching them on television. In her later years, Carolyn found happiness living with her daughter, Melanie, and her family, in Acworth, Georgia; where she enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Her home was a haven of love, laughter, and shared stories, leaving an enduring legacy of kindness and wisdom. Carolyn's final moments were filled with love, with her family by her side. Her grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Odom III (Trey), Daniel Lem Odom, Ivy Odom, and Crystil Fitzgerald, along with her beloved nieces and nephews, continue her legacy of love and faith. Preceded in death by her husband Buddy, her mother Vivian Green, her sister Betty (George) Morgan, and her brother Doug (Billie) Greene, Carolyn leaves a family that will remember her gentle spirit and unwavering faith and cherish her memory.
