Donna Lou Findley Zarzour

Donna Lou Zarzour (née Findley) passed away Saturday, March 11th 2023 at 79 years of age. Born on January 8th 1944, she is the second daughter of Edward Lee Findley and Lois Irene Findley, who precede her in death. Awaiting her beyond this life are her siblings: Nellie Jo Hanes, Edward “Ed” Findley, and Connie Sue Findley. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Daryl Findley. Her life was marked by her endless generosity and by her devotion to family. She is joining her husband, Solomon Zarzour, who she called the love of her life. Separated from each other by death for 11 years, now they can watch over us together again. She was the matriarch of a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts. Her three children, Leigh Ann Summerville, Joe Don Summerville, and Johnny Gentry were at her side in her final moments. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law (April Gentry); her grandchildren (Joshua and Catherine Justice; Richard and Aubrie Justice; Shelby Justice; Landon Moore; and Easton Gentry); and her great-grandchildren (Paisley Wilson, Rhett Justice and Emri Martinéz). She was the beloved "Aunt Donna” to many nieces and nephews. And she was a dear friend to many. She died in her daughter’s home, where she spent the last year and a half of her life. During this time, she was surrounded by her family and friends and was in the compassionate care of Helena Moore, Natasha Reasor, Verna Kelly, and Janicia Smith to whom we are eternally grateful. Donna was born in Pea Ridge, Alabama and graduated from Bessemer Highschool. She was a long-time member of the Bessemer Elks Lodge. For much of her life she lived in Hueytown, Alabama. She and her Husband owned and operated Sol’s Hotdog in Norwood, Alabama for more than 30 years where they became an active part of the community. Donna was known for her sharp sense of humor, her vibrant spirit, her dependable nature, her willfulness, and her restless love for new experiences. She stood out in any crowd of people and made countless friends who she leaves behind in her passing. Donna was always talking, always laughing, and always giving. We invite her friends and family to join us at the Elks Lodge in Bessemer, Alabama on Saturday March 18th 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm to share in her memory. In lieu of a funeral, and at Donna’s request, we will instead gather to celebrate her life.
