Doris McClinton

Doris McClinton, age 93, of Bessemer, AL passed away on June 29, 2024, at Grandview Hospital in Birmingham. Lola Doris Lucas was born October 20, 1930, in Tuscaloosa County. She married Wm. Perry McClinton on July 20, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents Mae and Bart Lucas; by her husband, Perry McClinton; her son, Wm. Perry Jr “Butch;” her grandson, Wm. Troy Reiter; and her brothers, Morris, Leonard, and James Bart. Doris is survived by her two daughters, Vicki McClinton, and Joanna McClinton Reiter Bartos (Jan); nine grandchildren Taylor Headley (Jen), Clint Headley (Adrian), Lucas Reiter (Brianna), Emily Reiter House (Zach), Carla Reiter (Joe), Jakob Reiter, Brandon Reiter (Haven), Brock Reiter, and Gavin Reiter (Sarah). She had seventeen great grandchildren, Isabelle, Charis, Olivia, Oliver, Layla, Ellie, Abby, Anna, Maddie, Scotti, Alister, Arya, Katlyn, Emily, Matthew, Cooper, and Kinedei. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Donna Lucas, plus Margaret, Adam, Lauren, and many other beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces. Doris loved her family and its history. She enjoyed doing genealogy. She spent a lot of time studying herbs and preaching their benefits. She loved turnip greens, chocolate with nuts, and flowers in her yard, but you better not pick them (except the great grands.) She was an excellent seamstress, maker of pound cakes, and a card shark. At last, she is reunited with her card buddies that she enjoyed so much. Doris is home with Jesus and her family, healed and whole. Now she can ask those pesky history questions she had. Doris had a tender heart for missions and loved her church, Metropolitan Church of God. A visitation will be held at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home, Monday, July 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Caffee Junction Church of God, 21231 US-11 N. McCalla, AL. 35111, at 11 AM, a visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at the Church. Burial will follow service at Shamblin Cemetery.
