Louis Clifford Vildibill

Louis Clifford Vildibill, passed away February 12, 2017. He was 93 years old. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, surviving the sinking of his ship, the USS William D. Porter during the Battle of the Phillippines. He again served his country while working with the CIA at the Bay of Pigs. After his military commissions, he worked and retired from Hayes Aircraft. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and also attended Huffman Baptist Church. Louis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie Jackson Vildibill, and is leaving behind his equally loving best friend and soulmate, Betty Hunt. He is also survived by his children, Aulou "Butch" C. Vildibill and wife, Nancy, Louis W. Vildibill and wife, Donna, Lisa Vildibill Hubbard and husband, Lane, Steve Hunt and wife, Mia, Tammy White and husband, Tom, Julie Elliot and husband, David; his grandchildren, Christina Smillie and husband, Sandy, Jennifer Vildibill and partner, Susan, Robert C. Vildibill and wife, Tina, Dawn Frevert and husband, Chris, James (Alex) A. Vildibill, Eric (Andy) A. Vildibill, Brittany Penny and husband, Shaffer, Brooke McGowan, Brandi McGowan, Ashley Giles and husband, Brandon, Slade Hubbard and wife, Kim, Tiffany Henderson, Brandon Hunt and wife, Kayla, Stephen Hunt, Milton Ferguson, Alex White, Zane Hunt, Sydney Ferguson, Steele Hunt, Mason Hunt, James Thienes and Matthew Thienes. He was very blessed to have 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His funeral will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home.Viewing will start at the church at 12:30 p.m. and the service will start at 2:00 pm. Subsequent burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Grove. Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home presiding. Pastor Larry Smith, Huffman Baptist Church and Don Neal, retired North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be, Rob Vildibill, Alex Vildibill, Andy Vildbill, Shaffer Penny, Brandon Hunt and Alex White; soloist will be Andy Vildibill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Col.
