Robert Lee Russo

Robert Lee Russo, known by all as Bob, was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to many, passed away on April 29th, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on September 7th, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Fred and Myrtle Russo, also preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Russo Spencer. Bob’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and community. After graduating from West Blocton High School, he served his country with honor and dedication as a devoted member of the United States Coast Guard. He then worked almost his entire career at IBM before retiring in the 1990’s. Never one to sit idle, Bob then started his own company, which he continued to run up until his death. Bob was a faithful servant of God having been a member of Tannehill Valley Baptist Church for 32 years. He also served his local community as a member of the Lakeview Fire Protection District board of directors for several years. For his personal enjoyment, Bob could often be found operating a tractor on his farm, a chainsaw in the woods, simply shoveling dirt, or anything else that kept his hands and mind busy. He seemingly never slowed down and yet he always had time for his family, friends, and church. Bob is survived by his wife Clara Holbrook Russo, sons Jeff Russo (Jolena), Wade Smith (Brenda), Marc Russo (Carolyn), and daughters Darcy Russo Greene, Becky Smith; sister Mary Anne Price (James); grandchildren Catherine Robinson, Danielle Russo-Gonzalez, Holly Russo, John Alan and Joseph Russo, Christina Russo Land and Shannon Russo Kasubowski, Matthew Eaton, Andrew Greene, Spencer Greene, Nathaniel Greene, April Yarbrough (Brian), Heather Smith Johnson (Colin), Nicholas Smith, Ashley Lott (Dakota), Breana Dean (Ryan), great grandchildren Adelynn Greene, AJ Johnson, Owen Johnson, Madilyn Johnson, Carlee Yarbrough, Davis Yarbrough, Cason, Cade and Case Lott, Blayton, Charles Preston, Samuel and Elias Dean. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with burial following at Bibbville Cemetery in Woodstock. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Bro. Jon Reaves will be officiating the service.
