Clara Coshatt Kizziah
July 12, 1948 - November 15, 2021
Clara Coshatt Kizziah, age 73 of Bessemer, passed away peacefully at her home on November 15, 2021. She is survived by her son Alton Kizziah, Jr. and daughter Alma Kizziah; granddaughter Bailey Kizziah; sister Dot Smith; niece Pam Kyser, nephew Roger (Virginia) Price, niece Anita Cooley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Alton M. “Pete” Kizziah and her parents Clarence and Floy Coshatt. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 33, Clara prayed to have the strength to raise her children. Those prayers were answered, and she had a long fulfilling life with them. Clara was a 30-year member of People’s Church in Hueytown, before becoming a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Lacey’s Chapel. Clara was the Salutatorian of West Blocton High School c/o 1966. She channeled her talents into many of her hobbies such as sewing and knitting clothes for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and loved to play the organ. Early in her career she worked for the FBI and could type over 110 words per minute. Later, she worked at her children’s school and was a Sunday School teacher. Clara lived a life of service and was full of love. Her family and friends dearly miss her but take comfort in the knowledge that she is at rest in Heaven. Funeral service will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home with burial following at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
