Debby Whisenhunt Godfrey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Debby Whisenhunt Godfrey, announce her passing on February 26th, 2018, at the age of 66. She passed peacefully and unexpectedly at home. She was predeceased by parents Grace and Bernie George Whisenhunt, Sr. and her loving husband Emmett R. Godfrey. She is survived by her son Hunter Godfrey, his wife Cinda and their daughters Gates and Arden. She also leaves behind her sisters Nina Willis, Rynthia Vines, Janice Fields and Julie Bradley (Steve), her three brothers, George Whisenhunt (Carolyn), Jim Whisenhunt (Gloria) and Jack Whisenhunt (Debbie) and many loving nieces and nephews and their children. Debby was a prominent member of her community. She worked hand in hand with her husband building a brokerage firm, Underwriting Services of Alabama, which she continued to operate until his passing. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. It is with some comfort that though she and Emmett were briefly apart, they are now reunited in the hereafter. Visitation will be held at The Baptist Church at McAdory (McCalla, AL) Saturday March 10th, 2018 12PM-2PM followed by a Celebration of Debby’s life. Reverend Richard Hanna will be presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Debby Godfrey.
