Joe Fred Dodson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joe Fred Dodson, age 87 of Hoover, Alabama passed away on July 2, 2022. Joe was born August 25, 1934 in Emerson, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Inez and Fred Dodson, his sisters Marcille Janie Womack and DeMaurice Foster. He is survived by his wife Beverly Tyree Dodson, sister; Annette Mooney, two daughters; Melody Jo Greene (John), Brenda Ann Carter, nephew whom he raised as a son; Michael Mussato (Brenda), Darcey Mussato, a great nephew; Ryan Mussato (Carrie), five beloved grandchildren; Johnny Greene (Emily), Alli Nations (Korey), Melissa Hays ( Shaun), Mark Greene (Rachel), Kelly Greene (Jeremy), and the joy of his life, 17 great grandchildren; Graham Greene, Ellie Greene, Tanner Greene, Evie Greene, Lawson Greene, Eli Nations, Shepard Nations, Simon Nations, Stone Nations, Elliott Nations, Lillian Hays, John Whitten Hays, Jovi Hays, Olivia Greene, Savannah Greene, Isaiah Greene, Vivian Greene, a great -great nephew (Ryder), a great-great niece, Reece, a host of other relatives and friends. Joe worked in the trucking industry most of his adult life and was terminal manager for Commercial Carriers in Birmingham when he retired in 1993. After retirement he enjoyed his 30-acre farm life in Jemison, Alabama with horses, goats fishing, four-wheelers and grandchildren until 2006. He enjoyed traveling across the U.S. with Beverly and being her partner in serving Green Pond Presbyterian Church in Bibb County and especially enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a long time member of Oakmont Presbyterian Church in Hoover, serving as deacon, working with building and grounds and serving as a usher for many years. The last 25 years he attended Green Pond Presbyterian Church participating in the work and upkeep of that church and cemetery. A reception and visitation for family will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 7 at Oakmont Chapel Presbyterian Church, 1817 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover, Alabama followed by a memorial Service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. John Larson officiating. Private graveside service will be at Green Pond Presbyterian Church in Green Pond, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Pond Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 100, Green Pond, Alabama.
