May 14, 1928 - December 3, 2021
On December 3, 2021, Reverend Roy T. Nix became absent from his body and very much present with His Lord. Born in Tuscaloosa Alabama on May 14 1928 he was “in his 94th year”. At 17 years of age, standing on the back porch looking up at the stars, he surrendered his life and will to the God of the Universe. He was a life long learner but initially graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University and then Nazarene Theological Seminary. He pastored in Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, Texas, and Georgia. He often relocated these congregations to more fertile locations while nurturing disciples and leaders. He took on many projects that were beyond his abilities, but not beyond God’s. He built relationships with people from all walks of life leaving them inspired and feeling loved. He was an entertainer, encourager, and expositor of God’s Word. “The mind can only comprehend what the seat can endure” “20 minutes is plenty of time if you prepare.” He portrayed an aura of invincibility saying he was invincible until God was through with him on earth. He retired many times but realized he would never retire from ministry. Even when he stopped preaching he would continue to read through the Bible, fascinated by new truths. He shared the life changing love of Jesus with everyone he met. Pastor Roy T. Nix relentlessly shepherded the flock of God, wherever he found them, until his final breath. He will be missed but not forgotten by those he loved and loved him. Thank you dad for a life well lived. Funeral service will be Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 1998 Shades Crest Road, Vestavia, AL. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
