Barbara Gayle Brewer

Barbara Gayle Brewer, age 77, of Bessemer, AL., went to her Heavenly Home on April 24, 2024. Barbara Gayle Shelby Brewer was born in Moundville, AL in 1946. She traveled this country having babies and chasing dreams but finally settled back in the Tuscaloosa area to raise her family. She became a nurse in 1978. Where she used her gifts to care for others. In her spare time, she loved to sun bathe, thrift shop, read, grow tomatoes, and travel. As the matriarch of a large family you could often find her bragging on how smart and beautiful each one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are. She was so proud to be a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed, but will forever live on in our hearts of her family and loved ones. She was preceded in Death by husband Roger Dale Brewer and grandson Brian Nichols. She is survived by Eldest daughter, Brenda (Jerome) and her children: Jessica (Cliff) and Derrick, Heather (Drew), also Brenda’s grandchildren: Kimber, Ford, LJ, and Dylan, Daughter; Glenda and her children: Jennifer (Kevin) and AJ; Samantha, also Glenda’s grandchildren: Searra, Shyanne, Skylah, Dj, Kingston, Kason, Kate, Braydon, Bryson, Haley, Hayden, and Jesse. Daughter; Susie (Philip) and her children: Brantley, PJ (Ayme), and Hunter; also Susie’s grandchildren: Marley and Roary. Daughter; Tammy and her children: Robert, TJ, Ryan, Chelsee (Mark), and Joe; also Tammy’s grandchildren: Carson, Mason, Harrison, and Liam. Son; Randy and his children: McKenzie, Chandlor and Caydan. Step son; JD (Tonya) and his children: Lane, Cody, Cassidie, Chandler, Chapman and Corbin; also JD’s grandchildren: Novah, Willis, Weston. Step son; Gene (Theresa) and their children Casey and Bailey. Youngest daughter; Jamie (Kyle) and her children: Brianna, Alexandria, Shelby, Madison; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, with burial following at Pleasant Grove Abernant Cemetery, 20043 Pleasant Grove Road, Vance, AL. 35490, with Bro. Gary Youngblood officiating the service. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.
