Lester "Faye" McRee

Lester “Faye” McRee, a current resident of Headland, AL and lifetime resident of Bessemer, AL, was called home by the Lord Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was 71 at the time of her passing. Faye was a very loving and giving person. She sacrificed so much for her children and gave so much of her time to them and her friends. Faye was born September 30, 1944 in Carbon Hill, AL to the parents of Lester and Christine Dickson. She lived the majority of her life in Bessemer, AL and had just recently moved to Headland, AL where she could be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She was the oldest child of three siblings. younger brothers Charles Dickson and Jerry Dickson. She was a graduate of Bessemer High School, Class of 1963. She married the love of her life, Gerald Burton McRee December 27, 1963 because she thought he had great legs. Faye was also a dedicated and longtime employee of Dr. Robert M. Phillips, DMD in Bessemer. She was also a huge Elvis fan, just ask any of her friends. As for hobbies, her grandchildren were here hobbies. She loved them beyond measure and they made her extremely happy. In her early years, Faye was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Bessemer, AL. However, for over 40 years, she was an active of member of Canaan Baptist Church, Bessemer, AL where she served the Lord diligently. She had so many church friends and family. Upon moving to Headland, she quickly found a home at God’s Way Baptist Church in Eufaula, AL. There she served the Lord and was the example of Christ she was called to be for her grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishment as a mother was to know that she did her job to lead her children to Christ. She was preceded in death by her Father, Lester Dickson, and her husband, Gerald McRee. Faye is survived by her Mother, Christine Dickson of Bessemer, AL, two brothers and their wives, Charles and Jo Ann Dickson of Goodlettsville, TN and Jerry and Connie Dickson of McCalla, AL. She is also survived by her son and wife, Chuck and Melinda McRee of Augusta, GA and daughter and husband, Heather and Brian Reynolds of Eufaula, AL, grandchildren, John McRee, Hunter Reynolds, and Abigail Reynolds. She is also survived by numerous McRee and Dickson nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at Canaan Baptist Church, Morgan Road, Bessemer, AL. The funeral service will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Canaan Baptist with a graveside service immediately following at Cedar Hills Cemetery, Bessemer, AL. There will also be a memorial service held at God’s Way Baptist Church on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to God’s Way Baptist Church, 271 Pleasant Hill Road, Eufaula, AL or Canaan Baptist Church, Bessemer, AL.
